Spätestens am Freitag wird die vorweihnachtliche Stimmung auch auf Mallorca Einzug halten. Bereits seit Oktober sind die Arbeiter mit Kranwagen damit beschäftigt, den feierlichen Lichterglanz in der Inselhauptstadt zu installieren: 65 Kilometer Lichterketten, 25 Kilometer Kabel, 4.272 Leuchtelemente und 2.254 Lichterbögen verteilen sich über 93 Straßen in 66 Vierteln der Stadt. In diesem Jahr neu ist ein großer Lichterbaum in der Carrer Jaume III. Er ähnelt der Installation am Passeig Sagrera.
Lichter der Solidarität
Bürgermeister José Hila wird den Schalter im Rahmen einer kleinen Feier umlegen. Dieses Jahr erhält er dabei Unterstützung von Safia Jatri und Brahim Salem Nanni. Die beiden Kinder stammen aus der Westsahara. Das Gebiet wird heute von Marokko beansprucht, bis 1975 gehörte es noch zur früheren Kolonialmacht Spanien. Seit Jahren nehmen viele mallorquinische Familien über die Ferien Kinder von Flüchtlingen auf. Die gemeinsame Eröffnungszeremonie ist von großem symbolischem Wert.
Die Betriebszeiten der vorweihnachtlichen Beleuchtung sind von Sonntag bis Donnerstag 17.30 Uhr bis 22 Uhr. Freitag und Samstag bleiben die Lichter bis Mitternacht eingeschaltet. An Weihnachten und Silvester werden sie bis 6 Uhr morgens angelassen.
Bis zum 6. Januar werden die Lichter die ganze Stadt erhellen. Die Beleuchtung in der Altstadt wird noch bis zum 20. Januar eingeschaltet bleiben, an dem Tag findet das Patronatsfest Sant Sebastià statt.
Geschenk-Inspiration
Übrigens: An diesem Freitag wird außerdem der Black Friday stattfinden. Wer also erst durch das Einschalten der Weihnachtsbeleuchtung seine Inspiration für mögliche Weihnachtsgeschenke erhält, der kann im Anschluss daran noch in Ruhe bis um Mitternacht einkaufen gehen. Näheres dazu wird es im Laufe der Woche noch geben.
