Vorsicht! Wer sich heute auf der Insel befindet, der sollte nicht alles glauben, was ihm erzählt wird. Der 28. Dezember ist in Spanien so etwas wie der 1. April in Deutschland – selbst die Tageszeitungen und Radiosendungen machen vor dem Unfug nicht Halt.
Schon einmal etwas von einem Tunnel gehört, der in Kürze zwischen dem spanischen Festland und den Baleareninseln errichtet werden soll gehört? Oder davon, dass zwischen der Kathedrale und dem Parc de la Mar ein hängendes Parkhaus gebaut werden soll? Und laut Inselradio solle die Insel künftig „Majorca“ heißen, dies sehe die Landesregierung so vor. Nein? Stimmt auch nicht. Aber wer hadert da nicht, wenn sogar die Nachrichtensender solche Mitteilungen annoncieren? Gerade noch war es so sinnlich und weihnachtlich auf der Insel – spätestens am 28. Dezember ist damit Schluss! Der „Día de los Santos Inocentes“ (im Deutschen wortwörtlich: „Tag der unschuldigen Kinder“) ist jedes Jahr ein großer Spaß unter Freunden, Familien und Kollegen – der eine lacht dabei mehr, der andere vielleicht weniger.
Tradition mit christlichem Ursprung
Tatsächlich geht diese scherzhafte Tradition auf einen christlichen Ursprung zurück. Der 28. Dezember ist der Tag, an dem man in Spanien des in der Bibel berichteten Kindermordes durch König Herodes gedenkt. Ein schrecklicher Hintergrund – eine umso schönere Idee: An diesem Tag sollen die Kinder das Sagen haben und all die Macht soll ihnen zuteilwerden.
